• Fall in the PNW •

There are a few things my outdoor-loving boyfriend has exposed me to in the PNW that I never thought of doing/trying. Squid fishing & Chanterelle hunting are two of the more “odd” ones, yet, I love him for it. It’s something the two of us get to do together and have an absolute blast at. Now that Fall is in full swing, scavenging for fresh Chanterelle mushrooms has been on the top of the list. And if there is one thing I’ve learned about mushroom pickers, is they keep their spots secretive. So with no clue as to where this is, here are a few photos of us finding these little golden beauties. They are DELICIOUS on top of steak, risotto, or on their own.

Given we had so many days without rain here in Seattle, I think we were a bit early on the hunt, because most of the ones we found were fairly small. But, we’ll be back.

  • jacquelyn |lark&linen - Such beautiful photos

My family has gone morelle mushroom hunting around my cottage for as long as I can remember. I used to think they were weirdos but now I’m full out there, rainboots and all, on the hunt with them.ReplyCancel

  • Kelsey Boyce - I grew up with chanterelles in my neighborhood (specific spots must not be described) and always look forward to picking them! When I first took my boyfriend home for the adventure he thought we were nuts, but by the end he was getting super excited about spotting one among the yellow vine maple leaves.

This week I made chanterelle white corn grits with a fried egg from mushrooms picked last weekend. Highly recommended!ReplyCancel
